Depending on the way your file is formatted, copy either of the following lines of code into the search and replace fields. If you’re not familiar with it, the Replace All command is usually found under the Edit menu of your text editor. Then continue on with Method 2a #4 and should allow you to skip step 8.Open the Pen_Tablet.dat file using Notepad++, or other text editor.See image below, line 1059. I’ve included “Replace All” instructions that would replace this step and steps 5 and 6.īamboo Preferences file inside the AppData folder. Search for this property name: PressureSafteyMargin (and yes, I don’t know why it’s spelled saftey and not safety).Note: you would replace this step with Method 2b. Open the backup preference file you made back in First Steps #2 in a text editor that has a Find/Search option, like in Notepad.Note the value of the offset it’ll be the number that shows up right when the tablet detects the pen.Hover your pen over the surface of the tablet so that the tablet registers the pen. When the pen shifts higher or lower, the value in the offset field resets. The pen has to be constantly registering on the the tablet or you’ll have to restart. At the same time, use your mouse to click the down/up arrows next to the offset property to decrease/increase the offset.Hover your pen over the surface of the tablet, so that the tablet registers the pen.It might be possible to use some kind of holder to keep it in position, if you have one at exactly the height you need or can be adjusted. I don’t recommend this method because it’s very difficult to do and requires holding the pen steady while hovering over the tablet, this can sometimes mean holding the pen almost an inch above the surface. UPDATE: Apparently the newer Wacom drivers have a slider now in the Bamboo Preferences panel. Minimum computer skill level for this guide is a 2: You’ll be editing the preferences file inside of Notepad++(or similar) in the Method 2. In that situation, you have to press down really hard to get the pen to register. What’s happening is that the tablet registers the pen at a ridiculous height above the surface of the tablet and in some cases below the surface of the tablet.

It took me almost two hours to find the answer myself, and eventually I found a YouTube video for it. You’re not actually calibrating your pen, just changing the offset value of the tablet’s range to detect the pen.
